Late Review

Return to Grace offers a unique and engaging experience, with stellar voice acting and art direction, but repeat playthroughs are a chore due to the game's sluggish pacing.

Late Review

As a commentary on artificial intelligence, and as a science-fiction mystery tale, Return to Grace is a thought-provoking experiment. The questions it asks are compelling, the virtual characters it introduces are endearing, and the retro-futuristic world it proposes is rich in potential. As a first-person adventure game, however, it's less successful, due to perfunctory puzzles, undemanding gameplay, and a short running time.

Return to Grace is a curious walking sim experience, one with a nice sense of mystery but alas a tad light in its overall execution.

Late Review

Return to Grace is a short but sweet narrative adventure game.  The puzzles are infrequent and never frustrating, while the storytelling and voice acting do an admirable job in telling this futuristic tale about the hopes and dreams of humanity.  I think it’s well worth checking out on Game Pass.

Return to Grace from developer: Creative Bytes Studios is a short and sweet once-through experience. It has nice dialogue but is more for viewing than interactive gameplay. As a game tagged to be known as a “Walking Simulator” I believe this is the pinnacle of the genre. With its beautiful local, interesting in-game history, and clever dialogue Return to Grace is a great pick for a narrative-driven game to play all in one go.

It’s a pretty good game for anyone who misses the days when games like What Remains of Edith Finch and Firewatch were gracing best-of lists. Return to Grace is probably a little late to get the same kind of widespread acclaim and reputation, but if there were any justice, it would get both, and deservedly so.

Return To Grace will be a good alternative for those looking for a walking simulation and a rich story, but it's easy to get bored with the lengthy dialog and rare elements of exploration.
