If you liked the classic adventure games of the time or if you are open to exploring an old adventure and don't mind the graphical lag, Tormenture is your game.

Tormenture does a fantastic job at modernising Atari classics such as Adventure for a modern audience while also being one of the scariest horror games of the year. I recommend this both to fans of the Atari classics looking for a nostalgia hit and younger horror game fans.

Tormenture is one of those videogames that you have to live to understand it... And the best thing to do is to do it as virgin as possible. It is the experience and the unexpected moments that make it great, and that is something unique, as it happens with Inscryption and other psychological horror titles. It's short, but it won't leave you indifferent.

It took me a little while to fully warm to Tormenture, but as the game started to show its hand, I was hooked and played much of it in a single sitting. Tormenture is a clever and novel approach to horror that makes excellent use of the limitations of the period setting to unsettle and immerse you in a unique experience.

Tormenture blends a retro horror game with real world escape room elements to create a really unique (and rather spooky) experience.

It’s a loving tribute to Atari’s early console and the games that defined it, and it provides a nostalgic vision of yesteryear’s gaming laced with a bit of horror. The final act might be a bit too much torment, but it doesn’t crack the polish of the game’s bulk. It’s absolutely worth it, just maybe chamber a few swears in preparation.
