The result is a “Retro-Puncher” that doesn’t merely mimic the nostalgia of the ’90s, but harnesses its unsettling aesthetic to build a coherent, oppressive body horror experience with a strong identity. It’s certainly not a game for everyone: the steep difficulty curve, the chaotic nature of close-quarters combat, and the ruthless “game over” mechanics are likely to drive away less patient players.”

“All said, Mini Murder Mysteries is a decent game. All the mysteries were interesting and nice brain ticklers. As an interactive-book-style game, I think it’s a real winner. “​While Sonic Frontiers – Definitive Edition is absolutely a misnomer, it’s a fine way to play the game if you haven’t already. The updates it has received since its initial release in November 2022 make the game worth revisiting, with lots of new content that’s fun to play even if they don’t necessarily fix any of the game’s more foundational problems. There’s a good game to enjoy even with the warts present in Sonic Frontiers, but given the cynical nature of this version’s release, it’s hard not to feel like they should have gone harder in improving it. While I wouldn’t expect every problem to be addressed, things like fixed bugs and technical issues would surely have gone a long way in making a fun game even more easy to enjoy.”

However, the tone is at times too light-hearted, which detracts from the immersive experience. The gameplay is very strong in the first part of the game, but becomes rather sluggish towards the end, where there is very little in the way of new content. Furthermore, the job interviews feel more like the border checks in Papers, Please than genuine candidate assessments, and we would have appreciated a deeper exploration of the selection mechanics that are already present but limited to brief special sections.”

“As a Filipino-American, one of my biggest issues with Afterimages was that it didn’t feel Filipino. Aside from actually mentioning the Philippines and using Tagalog words (and having the UI immediately translate them), I just felt like the game’s setting was generic, and while I can understand making a game that’ll appeal to more people, Until Then isn’t that kind of game.”

“There’s more to Dave the Diver than wasting away between the sea and sushi shop. In the Jungle is a meaningful expansion of the Dave the Diver-verse. It opens up the world we’ve fallen in love with beyond The Blue Hole and lets us explore it. It gives us a handful of new minigames, all but one of which are a treat. It expands Dave’s relationship with a cast of emotive beings and sets the stage for Bancho the Chef (coming hopefully sooner rather than later). It’s one of the better post-game DLC expansions, by just about every metric.”
