“Despite being a good match on paper, the system’s robustness is directly proportional to the player’s tolerance for Tetris, with plentiful combat encounters that will wear thin for some in the long run. However, the game’s other elements more than make up for any shortcomings here, with beautiful visuals, a jumping soundtrack, and a lengthy and well-written story full of characters that are a joy to get to know over the course of 20 or so hours.”

“As a combat-free metroidvania, entirely focused on environment traversal and diagram interpretation puzzles, Exographer breaks the mold of the genre and shatters expectations. What sets it apart is its focus on the field of particle physics, but it is not necessary to have prior knowledge of the subject, because, deep down, what drives its world-building is the enthusiasm of the scientific hunt for understanding the structures of the universe, celebrating each small fragment of knowledge gained. Although this does not make Exographer inaccessible to a wider audience, it defines it as a niche game that should please those interested in getting into a mix of puzzles and science.”

“Apartment Story builds tension stronger than many other games, but the downtime sometimes leads to it fizzling out. It tells a story about topics worth exploring deeper, but barely skims the surface. I felt that it had only begun to explore its potential in the end. Still, it doesn't overstay its welcome and is good for a single-sitting playthrough, which I always appreciate. If you're keen to explore the more experimental side of indie gaming, give Apartment Story a go. I think Blue Rider Interactive has something and I am fascinated to see where they go next.”

Oct 28, 2024 | Score 100

“The game looks great with its dark and brooding visuals. While each level has a menacing, dark-ish style, they are uniquely themed such as a forest, living train or even shooting the undead on the Moon. Enemy design, while a bit repetitive, is top-notch and creepy. Bosses are big and grotesque creations fun to challenge. The soundtrack is a high octave hard rock score to get your blood pumping as you shred The Meat’s armies. There’s nothing inherently wrong with Iron Meat aside from the fact that unlocked characters doesn’t offer any variety in terms of gameplay and the fact that given its old school inspiration, the gameplay is limited. When clearing the game, you can replay it and choose which level to play. Whether you’re looking for an old school inspired challenge or some quick fun, Iron Meat is an absolute must play. The gameplay is addictive, easy to pick up and play and some classic co-op action. While the gameplay is limited, the levels and challenge is very fun and addictive. Even after clearing the game, you’ll find yourself replaying levels to hone to skills or just as a stress relief. Iron Meat is a must buy. Don’t miss out.”
