“Grind Survivors isn’t reinventing the wheel, but it does try its own spin on the ever-popular survivor-like titles. It offers a compelling loop of loot, infusing and improving weapons cycles that are built around robust meta-progression and varied character abilities. While the initial onboarding could be clearer, the Forge system is unduly stressful at first. But the constant flow of unlocks and escalating difficulty provides the necessary "just one more run" hook characteristic of the genre.”

“All in all, Starship Troopers Ultimate Bug War sits nicely next to the EDF series as a parody of militarism in video games. EDF does it by embracing B-grade aesthetics and bonkers attitude, where Starship Troopers instead builds on the film to deliver something sharp and more pointed. It’s sad that this game is just so intensely relevant right now, but that is the world we live in. As a satire, Starship Troopers Ultimate Bug War isn’t particularly funny, because it’s increasingly our reality.”

“Boiling Point is an expansion that does exactly what you’d expect from Ready or Not at its best: a limited number of missions, but crafted with such care and intensity that they more than justify the price tag. The three missions are the most inspired and best-designed VOID Interactive has ever offered, with level design that raises the bar for the entire genre and an atmosphere capable of unsettling even the most seasoned veterans. The narrative framework that ties them together, while remaining deliberately implicit, gives the package a cohesion and psychological impact that previous DLCs lacked. The flaws of the base game are almost all present and largely unchanged, but those who already enjoyed the original title will find in this DLC the best that Ready or Not has to offer.”

“Much like Aeta’s quest, players of 1348 Ex Voto have some challenges to face in getting through to the end. If you power through the various bugs and design issues with the combat, you’ll find a decent 7 to 8 hour game that gives you a bleak look into a plague-ridden Europe. Buboes and all, 1348 Ex Voto’s strong voice cast, great environments and lighting might not be enough to avoid a big white X on it.”
