GamelinerMay 19, 2026Score 90Pre-release Review

“Yoshi and the Mysterious Book left me with a big smile and a fully satisfied puzzle brain by the time the credits rolled. While the game clearly aims at a younger audience, its clever puzzles, colorful worlds, and constant gameplay variety make it just as enjoyable for adults who love poking around every corner for secrets. If you’re looking for a straightforward platformer this won’t be your jam, but puzzle fans searching for a charming adventure packed with discoveries will absolutely feel at home here.”

“I recommend R-Type Dimensions III for two types of players: those already familiar with shoot 'em ups or the R-Type franchise itself, and players who are very curious to explore classics of the genre and want a good entry point into one of the most iconic games on the Super Nintendo.”

“There are plenty of moments that charm and delight through Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. It's not always the most obvious game to play, emphasising experimentation over platforming fundamentals, but the collection of weird and wonderful new creatures it contains invite exploration in a way that should delight inquisitive young minds.”

Nintendo BlastMay 19, 2026Score 80Pre-release Review

“Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is an extremely creative and charismatic experience, relying much more on curiosity and experimentation than on traditional challenges. Its calmer pace and focus on discovery certainly won't appeal to all players, especially those looking for constant action or a more straightforward adventure. Still, for those who buy into its premise from the first few hours, it's an addictive, relaxing game full of personality.”

“Yoshi and the Mysterious Book will appeal to players who enjoy exploration and an experimental approach to gameplay, as well as those seeking a relaxing experience. Although I personally prefer a slightly greater challenge and more motivation to achieve 100% completion, I certainly don’t regret the dozen or so pleasant hours I spent playing the game.”

“Playing Thick As Thieves felt more like interacting with an expanded demo or an early access title than a full release. One thing that deserves praise is that the developers communicate the available content in the store page quite clearly. Right now, however, it’s a game that offers very little.”

“If you are looking for a cozy, no-consequence shop management game that features a robust amount of customizability in terms of decorations, then I highly recommend Thrifty Business. But if you are looking for something deeper, in terms of strategy, then…I might suggest looking elsewhere. That isn’t to fault the game – it just provides a very calm, surface level of gameplay with some interesting character stories. You might need to strategize. You won’t need to optimize. You’ll just play. And I enjoyed it for a time. But after a certain point, I found myself wondering “When is this going to wrap up?””

Ultimately, the Yoshis' range of moves isn't particularly impressive, and the lack of difficulty and even combat can sometimes make the adventure feel a bit sluggish. e”

“Phonopolis is the most beautiful and artfully-constructed game yet from Amanita Design, a studio that knows a thing or two about making such games. Phonopolis perhaps doesn't venture quite as far outside the point 'n' click adventure box as it could, but fans of the genre who don't mind the occasional obtuse puzzle and a short-ish runtime will likely find themselves singing the game's praises.”

“The real beauty of Forza Horizon 6 is in how the Japanese world feels alive, and how rewarding it is to just go bimbling about. FH6 was always going to be an easy sell, and a reskinned FH5 would probably have sufficed, but Playground Games have smashed it out of the park. The world is great, the cars are amazing, and the racing action, whether on the streets, on the track, or in the wilds, is second to none.”

“The artistic vision, grounded in paper and pastel colors, is very pleasing, but the simple level design and overly timid sound design could dull the experience for more mature players. However, this is rewarded with a handful of concluding chapters that finally seem free from the yoke of accessibility at all costs.”
