Nintendo BlastJul 3, 2026Score 90

“Capcom has done an excellent job bringing its franchises to the Switch 2. From the new Resident Evil titles to Street Fighter 6—available right at the new console's launch— Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition serves as further proof of the company's commitment to re-establishing strong ties with Nintendo; they have not only brought over an already excellent game largely intact but also ensured it runs flawlessly on the Switch 2.”

“Time has been kind to NINJA MASTER'S. At launch, its infinite combos and balance issues overshadowed much of what it had to offer, but revisiting it today reveals an ambitious fighting game built around inventive ideas such as weapon switching, the Splendid Combination System, and the Super Power Gauge. Neo Geo Premium Selection provides the best way to experience these mechanics in a modern environment, offering players a chance to re-evaluate one of ADK's most underrated fighting games. It may not be flawless, but it remains a distinctive and rewarding fighter that is still well worth playing today.”

“How much enjoyment one can get from House of Necrosis solely depends on their endurance and pain tolerance. Sometimes RNG can leave players walking crooked for a week after an unbelievably sour turn of events. The sting is indescribable and will make anyone thrust their fists to the sky to curse the developer, while seething and foaming at the mouth. Nonetheless, House of Necrosis is one of the most rewarding and thrilling experiences a horror maniac can have, so long as they have the guts to brave its floors.”

“If you don’t have access to the Special Edition of Devil May Cry 5, or just want another banger of a port for the Nintendo Switch 2, Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition is another miracle port that makes you realize that Nintendo’s second hybrid has quite a lot of horsepower under the hood. Either that or the RE Engine really is capable of reaching for the moon and creating wonders. Either way, Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition is in my opinion a must play for fans of action games and owners of the Nintendo Switch 2.”

SmashPadJul 2, 2026Score 55

“As a Filipino-American, one of my biggest issues with Afterimages was that it didn’t feel Filipino. Aside from actually mentioning the Philippines and using Tagalog words (and having the UI immediately translate them), I just felt like the game’s setting was generic, and while I can understand making a game that’ll appeal to more people, Until Then isn’t that kind of game.”

Nintendo LifeJul 1, 2026Score 80Pre-release Review

“Tomodachi Life was a late-cycle winner, but if Rhythm Heaven Groove is to be its swansong, Switch 1 is going out on a high note. Beatspell didn't hit for me, personally, and the lag issues thrown up by playing on a modern TV are irritating, so be aware that you'll need to play in handheld or tabletop mode to get the best out of it.You shouldn't let that dissuade you from experiencing one of gaming's most infectiously fun-filled series, though. I was worried that we'd make it through the Switch generation without a Rhythm Heaven, but coming just over a decade after the last, Nintendo has snuck out one final hit for the old Switch. A surprise and a delight, indeed.”

“Star Fox clearly isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel, and perhaps that is precisely its greatest strength. Nintendo has chosen to modernise a classic without losing the original’s identity. The gameplay remains wonderfully addictive, the alternative routes invite you to take off again and again, and technically, everything runs exceptionally smoothly on the Nintendo Switch 2. Yet it remains difficult to work with a team that offers more commentary than actual help during the missions. But every time I thought, “just one more mission”, I realised that Star Fox had gripped me all over again. And that is perhaps the greatest compliment I can pay to this remake.”

“My honest opinion is that Star Fox for the Nintendo Switch 2 is, by far, the best game in the franchise. It features the best gameplay, story, and levels; and while much of this stems from the legendary original game being remade, it is also impossible not to give credit to the talented team at Velan Studios for everything that was recreated, reimagined, and added.”

GameBlastJul 1, 2026Score 90

“Toby Fox continues Deltarune's story with a rich experience. The transition between turn-based combat and 2D platforming diversifies an already established gameplay formula and still works very well. However, accessibility is an issue, since the game is only available in English and Japanese. This can severely impact the experience for non-speakers, especially for a narrative game that relies so heavily on dialogue.”
