“Unfortunately, Dark Scrolls fails to live up to its immense potential, delivering an adventure that lacks polish in crucial areas and suffers heavily from repetition. Players with friends willing to embark on a new 8-bit-style adventure might find some enjoyment in doinksoft’s latest title, but for everyone else, there are more consistent and entertaining alternatives available on the Nintendo console.”

STWGames ItaliaJun 30, 2026Score 65

“Maseylia: Echoes of the Past is Sol Brothers’ first foray into the world of gaming. A classic Metroidvania that makes exploration and its art style its strong points, but fails to impress due to a somewhat slapdash combat system. The story features some original elements, but suffers from a narrative that is at times slow and disjointed. There are a few bugs and technical glitches, which may be resolved in future updates. We’d give this title a solid pass mark, particularly given that the developer worked with limited resources.”

“Maseylia: Echoes of the Past will not be the most polished game you’ll play, but thanks to its great exploration, interesting world-building and exhilarating platforming, it will be one that’s hard to put down. The abilities you pick up contribute massively to this feeling, as Maseylia contained multiple of the most original and fun powerups I’ve encountered in recent years. If you are out to find a Metroidvania with a difference, then look no further.”

“This is as close to a perfect 1:1 remake as you could ask for. Star Fox feels and looks exactly how my brain remembered the game back in 1997. Every detail has been touched up to make for a modern experience while leaving the core gameplay loop intact. I would prefer if we had more shiny new toys to play with but when they refreshed the old toy this good, it’s hard to complain. The new cutscenes and dialogue bring the characters to life like never before. The orchestral arrangements of the legendary soundtrack are chef’s kiss. This is also a surprise graphical showcase for the Nintendo Switch 2. Velan Studios did an amazing job, and I hope to see them stick with the franchise the way Grezzo has with Zelda and MercurySteam with Metroid. Star Fox is back. Next time, let’s take him to new heights.”

“Deer & Boy impresses with how well it executes its vision. It is moving when it needs to be, delivering a sensitive message about the connection between man and nature through an animal, and crafting a cinematic narrative that many big-budget games strive for—yet here, it achieves this with far more creative ingenuity.”

“For fans of Frostpunk 2 who want a new sequence of moral dilemmas, Breach of Trust has its value. The premise is good, New Edinburgh is an interesting setting, and the relationship with Aurora leads to tense decisions. The campaign also presents a different kind of crisis, mixing famine, energy, war, and volcanic threat. However, I wouldn't call this DLC indispensable or even unmissable. It's short, linear, and doesn't significantly expand the base game.”

I have no idea how well you personally will agree with that, but I do know that sitting here replaying it again, I remember how much fun that original game was. It kind of makes me happy that someone who had never even heard of the N64 original could feel like that today.”

“The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a great nostalgic-themed action-adventure game from Square Enix. The HD-2D style shines in its action-adventure debut. It is not without some problems, but it ultimately delivers 20+ hours of fun and a wonderful story to experience. The combat is simple, the world is layered and very rich in a variety of locales. Not to mention the music being just as good as every HD-2D thus far. This game is absolutely worth every second you play in it. I could not recommend it enough, as it offers just a simple, warm, and fun adventure.”

“Star Fox for the Nintendo Switch 2 is the ultimate way to experience this gem from the 1990s, revitalised thanks to its superb visuals and cutscenes that take the storyline to a whole new level – one that no other version even comes close to. Although the gameplay hasn’t received the same level of attention, and is starting to show its 30 years a little, and whilst the campaign’s length may not appeal to players simply looking to see the credits roll, this is a successful reboot that provides a fresh launchpad for Fox McCloud and the rest of the Star Fox squad to blast off towards stardom with several hours of solid fun.”

“It occurs to me that if Star Fox Zero never happened, I’d probably be a lot kinder to this remake. A lot of Star Fox 2026 is what I want from a proper remake of Star Fox 64, but it’s still Star Fox 64. Again. Some of the rough edges are sanded down, but they’re still there. Even $50 is pushing it for what it has to offer. To anyone at Nintendo or Valen Studios who would listen, I beg of you. No more remakes. Take what you have here and build on it with a new installment. Let this franchise finally step out of Star Fox 64‘s shadow again. Or, if you must do another remake, do Star Fox 2. That game needs a remake even more than Star Fox 64 did. Or bury the franchise for good. At this point, I don’t care which.”

“At first glance, Bellwright might seem like the classic mix of RPG, survival, and sandbox elements already seen in dozens of other indie titles. However, its strong management component sets it apart from the dangerous label of “more of the same,” making it a deep and enjoyable game. Bellwright is a diamond in the rough: a sandbox in the truest sense of the word, but also an excellent role-playing game that fans of the genre will appreciate. Unfortunately, the console port currently limits the experience, compounded by an interface that’s difficult to navigate with a controller and insufficient optimization. At the time of this review’s publication, however, the game is still in early access: Donkey Crew therefore has plenty of time to step in and iron out the kinks ahead of the full release.”
