Latest: Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition

NintendoBoyAug 26, 2026Score 100Pre-release Review

“If you also skipped Elden Ring during the previous generation and were waiting for the Switch 2 version to launch, the Tarnished Edition is an easy recommendation for me to make. It is one of the best RPGs I have ever played, and even arriving a few years after the original release, it remains an experience worth discovering for anyone.”

“You can feel the XCOM DNA in Bit Reactor's debut title, Star Wars Zero Company, but its cast of rogues is the special sauce that helps it shine, despite a somewhat lackluster story and unfortunate performance issues.”

“Asobo's prequel adds toe-to-toe combat and hands-off puzzling to the Plague Tale recipe to winning effect – but the trauma porn of its second half takes considerable shine off an otherwise smartly paced action-adventure.”

Latest: Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition

Nintendo LifeAug 26, 2026Score 90Pre-release Review

“Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is a tremendous achievement and one of the finest games you can currently play in the Switch 2 library. Offering up an enormous and densely packed open world, tons of tough boss encounters to overcome, a huge DLC endgame expansion, and presenting it all with great performance, there are few (if any) games in the console's library that can match it in spectacle, difficulty, and raw quality. If you've ever been a Soulslike fan or are simply looking for a deep and challenging game that takes full advantage of the Switch 2's power, you owe it to yourself to pick this up whenever you can. Elden Ring deserves the praise it's received as one of the games that defined a generation, and it feels right at home on Nintendo's handheld.”

Latest: Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition

ZoomgAug 26, 2026Score 90Pre-release Review

“Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on Switch 2 is still the FromSoftware masterpiece fans know and love, but it comes with some new technical limitations. With the full base game, Shadow of the Erdtree, and the Tarnished Pack, it offers a complete package for newcomers while retaining its mysterious storytelling, exceptional world-building, precise combat, and phenomenal soundtrack. However, Switch 2 simply cannot deliver the best version of Elden Ring. Frame-rate drops are noticeable in crowded areas and during some boss fights, while the quality of distant scenery is lower and visual issues become more apparent in Docked Mode. Handheld play is appealing, but the console’s weight and the limitations of the Joy-Cons make it less than ideal for some of the game’s tougher encounters.”

“Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a bold pivot for the series that successfully trades its signature rat swarms and grim stealth for a dynamic, parry-focused action experience. Sophia's origin story delivers a refreshing adventure that feels both new and deeply connected to the lore of the franchise.”

“Switch 2 owners are about to discover the world of Elden Ring. If they've never experienced it elsewhere, then the magic that stretches through every fibre of the game remains intact, and in handheld especially, offers a thoroughly enjoyable version of the game. If you've played elsewhere, however, the performance downgrades may be too much to take.”

“Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy can be considered a bold and distinctive entry in the franchise, one that steps away from the established formula of the A Plague Tale series to deliver a linear, mysterious, and action-driven spin-off. The game excels in storytelling and building suspense, the island setting is visually stunning, the music and sound design are of commendable quality, and the combat system, despite becoming somewhat repetitive and lacking in innovation, remains enjoyable for a large portion of the experience. .”

Latest: Star Wars Zero Company

The Games MachineAug 26, 2026Score 90Pre-release Review

“Star Wars Zero Company is one of those rare examples where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The solidity of its turn-based tactical combat blends seamlessly with the team members' progression mechanics, the team management aspect, and all the different narratives it weaves-from the overarching plot to the small personal stories. Each system, taken individually, is more than good, but it's the way they influence one another (mirroring the relationships between the game's characters) that elevates the experience and makes every battle (or every decision) feel like the most important one yet.”
