GamingBoltJul 8, 2026Score 70Pre-release Review

“While the foundational EA Sports College Football experience remains high-quality and slowly improving, a lack of much meaningful new content in CFB 27, headlined by the barebones Mascot Mashup, highlights how this franchise has already shown signs of stagnation, even if only in its third year back.”

“Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is the best the franchise has offered in a decade, promising a bright future with an even better story and refined details—making it the ultimate way to experience Edward Kenway's legendary tale, provided you don't mind the RPG-style combat of recent entries.”

“Echoes of Aincrad is the Sword Art Online game I’ve been waiting for ever since I watched the anime's first arc and thought, 'Why has no game actually put me inside this world?' The decision to replace Kirito with a player-created character is the most important move the gaming franchise has made in its history, and it completely transforms the emotional equation of the experience.”

“Echoes of Aincrad is a charming game that has intuitive combat and rewarding character growth. Although its repetitiveness brings down the experience from time to time, I still couldn't help but want to keep playing so I could see where my chums would end up next. 🌐”

“If you’ve gotten your fill the first time around, all the bells and whistles that are featured in this updated run of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag will only get you so far. It basically boils down to this: if you want more Assassin’s Creed after, say, tearing through Shadows, but aren’t looking to commit as many hours and want a smaller map and more focused objectives, then it’ll suit your needs just fine.”

UagnaJul 8, 2026Score 68Pre-release Review

“Echoes of Aincrad is a game with a noble concept, but its execution is too repetitive. While the game boasts a solid and engaging RPG system that highlights character stats and equipment customization, its lackluster gameplay ultimately dampens any enthusiasm. The bold decision to rewrite the narrative by sidelining Kirito stumbles due to a slow, poorly told story; a combat system that fails to impress because of the total lack of impact from attacks; exploration that offers no incentives whatsoever; and an overall repetitiveness that borders on the exhausting.”

Worth PlayingJul 8, 2026Score 85Pre-release Review

“Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced is a good but very safe remake. I still had a shocking amount of fun just sailing around and doing pirate things on the wide ocean, but the game lacks a certain confidence, and that keeps it from being a truly exceptional remake. It's a great way to revisit Edward's adventures with fewer rough patches, better graphics, and some extra content. Fans of the original will have a grand old time.”

“By preserving the soul of one of Ubisoft's greatest achievements while thoughtfully refining nearly every aspect surrounding it, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced succeeds where many remakes struggle. It honours the past without becoming trapped by it, whether stepping aboard the Jackdaw for the very first time or returning after years away, there has rarely been a better opportunity to answer the call of the Caribbean.”

EvilgamerzJul 8, 2026Score 90Pre-release Review

“Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced perfectly demonstrates what a remake should look like. The game takes everything that made the original so strong and updates it in the right places, without losing sight of why people were so enthusiastic about it back then. The world looks beautiful, combat feels much better, sailing remains a highlight, and there is still an incredible amount to discover and do. It is precisely that combination of the sea, storms, music, and the constant feeling that there is something to be found that still makes this one of the most unique installments in the series. That doesn't mean everything is suddenly perfect. Parkour still doesn't always work smoothly, the camera sometimes gets in the way, and the AI could still use quite a bit of work. But none of these issues really hold this remake back. This is without a doubt Assassin's Creed (and Ubisoft) at its best, and the best pirate game to date.”

Lords Of Gaming Jul 8, 2026Score 90Pre-release Review

“Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced stands as a shining example of a remake done right. The beloved original has been respected in all the ways that matter, and overhauls to the visuals, combat and traversal have ensured that even the most nostalgic gamers will be hard pressed not to admit this is the definitive way to play their favourite pirate game. While the likes of Skull and Bones and Sea of Thieves have done their best to make sure that fans of pirate games have been catered for, there can be no doubt that Assassin's Creed Black Flag remains the gold standard in pirate-themed video games, and Resynced as appeared firmly on the horizon to reclaim its crown. Developer Ubisoft has scored a huge hit here at a time when it perhaps needed one the most.”

“Echoes of Aincrad understands the tone and appeal of Sword Art Online - and that counts for a lot - but it's let down by undercooked gameplay systems and disappointingly dull quest design. Those looking for a grindy action RPG might enjoy how progression is handled, and hardcore fans of the source material will probably push through for the sake of a mostly entertaining story, but you'll still need to stomach so many issues.”

“Assassin's Creed Black Flag: Resynced does exactly what fans have been wanting for years. It doesn't fundamentally change the original, but it sensibly improves nearly every single aspect. The Caribbean looks spectacular, Edward Kenway's story hasn't lost any of its appeal, and the updated gameplay mechanics make this classic more enjoyable to play today than ever before.”

“Black Flag Resynced proves that even after more than a decade, Edward Kenway's adventure can still feel fresh, exciting, and unforgettable. Ubisoft didn't simply remaster Black Flag, they reimagined it with modern gameplay while preserving everything that made the original unforgettable. Few remakes manage to honor their source material while making it feel completely new. Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced does exactly that, delivering the definitive way to experience one of the franchise's greatest adventures. The result is a pirate adventure that's every bit as magical today as it was over a decade ago.”
