Late Review“Max Mustard is a joyous platformer that wears its inspiration on its sleeve. It makes great use of the PS VR2 hardware by involving players in the action not just through direct control of Max, but through interactions with the environment. The popping colours, happy vibes and cool art style all help it feel really polished and exciting from start to end. With punchy boss fights and a great sense of scale, there really isn't anything this doesn't do really well. A thorough recommendation for PS VR2 owners!”

Late Review“In its current form, Max Mustard feels more like a tech demo, or a largely unfinished game. Most of the game was entertaining, but too many technical issues and in-game inconsistencies really destroy what could be an awesome game. I sincerely hope that Toast Interactive sends out some updates and bug fixes so I can give this one another go.”

Late Review“Max Mustard is easy to recommend for a 5-7 hours of cutesy VR platforming fun. It's lacking a little originality though, wearing its many platforming influences proudly, so whilst it's fun and has some great moments, they fail to elevate it to the status of the games that have inspired it.”

Late Review“Max Mustard is the PSVR 2 game I’ve been waiting for. Its clever use of perspective makes navigating Max through the rich, diverse world a delight. Each of the 40 levels introduces fresh ideas, keeping the experience surprising all the way to the end. With numerous nods to classic titles, this ode to the genre is a joy and an essential title for any PSVR 2 owner.”

Late Review“Are you fans of Astro Bot and disappointed by the absence of a dedicated PSVR2 game? Well, don’t worry, as Mac Mustard has done an excellent job of filling the void left by Asobi’s beloved robot. Through a carefully crafted platforming experience, both visually stunning and surprisingly fun to play, Toast Interactive’s production exudes charm and includes some truly clever gameplay ideas. The only drawback is its mild difficulty, which doesn’t detract from the quality of a VR game every headset owner shouldn’t miss.”

Late Review“If Max Mustard was a non-VR platformer, it would be excellent but add in virtual reality and you're left with an unforgettable experience.”

Late Review“Max Mustard is a true source of joy that is hard to find anywhere else, heightened by the full engagement of your senses only a VR headset can provide. Praising this game any longer would be a disservice to your time, which could be better spent jumping into this jolly adventure for yourself.”

Late Review“Max Mustard is one of the best VR platformers of all time, up there neck-and-neck with Astro Bot: Rescue Mission and Moss VR. Everything is brimming with charm, from the character designs to the fast-paced and engaging gameplay. This cohesive and genuinely enjoyable experience allows me to say that Max Mustard has set a new benchmark for the VR platformer genre.”

Launch Window“There is nothing revolutionary in Max Mustard, but that doesn't mean that this game isn't very well made, and very entertaining. The story is cheerfully bewildering, but the game is so familiar and comfortable, you aren't likely to care. With solid platforming mechanics, Max seems to borrow a bit of this and bit of that from other VR platformers in order to deliver a very polished experience. In a genre that is woefully underserved, Max Mustard is a breezy breath of fresh air.”
