As strong as Type-NOISE: Shonen Shojo could have been, its localization, even after revision, holds it back.

Type-NOISE: Shonen Shojo has a drama-filled storyline with fun references and a surprisingly deep message. With challenging puzzles, mini-games, and stand-out artwork, this is a refreshing take on the usual visual novel.

Type-NOISE: Shonen Shojo offers a bold artistic experience that blends visual novels and puzzle games in a surreal, emotionally charged setting. Its stunning art and profound music make it a captivating sensory journey, but poor writing and translation errors prevent it from reaching the level of the games it inspired.

Type-NOISE: Shonen Shojo is more than just a niche interest because it is the studio’s first English-language game. It makes a strong case for what interactive storytelling can do when it doesn’t give in. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience for players who are ready to confront its unique style and emotionally charged puzzles. It’s scary, annoying, relieving, and memorable all at the same time, and it stays with you long after the last memory is put together.

While Type-Noise: Shonen Shojo could have executed some of its concepts a little better, it tells a solid story about trauma and moving on. These characters' stories aren't revolutionary, but they're emotional and heartfelt, and I found myself rooting for each one as I learned more about them. As an adventure game, it also provides a wide variety of puzzles that are both challenging and satisfying.
