I was staggered when I learnt that Silly Polly Beast is the work of a solo developer. There are several success stories of indie titles coming from the work of one individual, and this is absolutely one of them. You’d genuinely think that this was the work of a small indie team of developers because it’s super polished and mechanically sound in every area of the game. Combat is satisfying, the art style is fantastic, and the gameplay loop kept me engaged throughout the entire experience. If you’re after a memorable 10 or so-hour experience with a surreal, strange survival horror that is a delight to play, then give this your time. You can purchase the game for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S HERE for the worthy cost of £16.74.

Silly Polly Beast is a visually striking and emotionally heavy indie experience that blends punk aesthetics, brutal storytelling, and bold experimentation. Despite its clunky combat and uneven mechanics, its unique identity and strong atmosphere make it a project worth remembering.

Silly Polly Beast is a great conceptual horror experience. With charismatic characters and a fragmented but interesting story, the title combines action and survival but struggles with unfair confrontations.

Silly Polly Beast is a great indie game that might really be a candidate for horror game of the year. Its tale is morally ambiguous and has story beats that aren't always clear. And the gameplay is so good that it keeps the tension high all the time, and I mean all the time.

The only real thing holding it back from greatness is its difficulty. Those sudden spikes break the pacing and make it hard to fully enjoy what the game is doing so well elsewhere. There were multiple moments where I thought, “Okay, this is it, I'm done,” only to boot it back up an hour later because I couldn't shake it. That's the magic of Silly Polly Beast — it frustrates you, but it also pulls you back in.

However, the strengths of Silly Polly Beast outweigh its flaws. The atmosphere of a Russian provincial town, combined with stunning visuals and an engaging storyline, does its job-immersing the player in a mysterious world shrouded in demonic fog.

Silly Polly Beast is one of those surprises you don't expect to find in such a busy schedule full of big titles. It's surprising for its quality and attention to detail in everything it offers, which is so necessary in this industry full of video games that seem to be carbon copies of each other.

Silly Polly Beast is a raw and unflinching action horror experience that blends punishing combat, narrative mystery, and bold visual shifts into one of the most daring indie titles of the year.

It's a good game that mixes a lot of genres so we have a little of twin-stick shooter with melee combat in arenas that feel a little "hotlinemiamilike", survival horror sections and even a little skating. The atmosphere is amazing, the soundtrack is a beast and the plots works well. But the unbalanced combat and awful stealth mechanics really hurt my feelings for the game. I'll remember it fondly, but I don't know If I will wanna play it again.

While its visuals and music are superb and the narrative has some good ideas, Silly Polly Beast is heavily burdened by clunky, unresponsive combat that drags down what otherwise could have been a unique and interesting psychological survival horror game.
