Detective Instinct: Farewell, My Beloved is a competent adventure game, capable of pleasing both newcomers and veterans. It features a well-constructed world, well-developed characters, and a very pleasing aesthetic. My main criticism is that it rarely manages to be more than just the sum of its parts: it's a well-executed game, but it doesn't stand out in any specific aspect when compared to other well-established games in the genre. It's ideal for those who want to discover if the genre is for them, especially since it's short and easy. Veterans should also enjoy it, although they may feel that Detective Instinct doesn't offer anything that other more acclaimed titles haven't already done.

Beyond its classic aesthetic, the game delivers a touching story about lost loves, geopolitical conflicts, and the consequences for those who are the greatest victims of these issues.

Detective Instinct: Farewell, My Beloved drinks from rich fountains and perfectly understands its nutritional values, bringing its own contributions to the mystery genre and not limiting itself to merely copying what worked in the past. It is a graduation from fan to author that could have very well lost itself in fascination; thanks to its own strong beliefs, it gracefully avoids such a fate.
