Launch Window“Felix the Cat is a hidden treasure from the glory days of the ‘90s that’s been forgotten until now. Players who enjoy classic titles and platformers should give Felix a whirl.”

Launch Window“Felix the Cat is a modest but charming platformer. The rerelease, which includes both the NES and GB editions, is simple, but well-handled. It particularly adds features that considerably improve the experience quality of life, but it's only the basic for old game ports.”

Launch Window“Felix The Cat returns in a two-pack of platformers from 30 years ago. The nostalgia hit is evident but not enough to justify its price. It's appreciated that Konami has taken an interest in unearthing a gem of its era, but the treatment of the package is very poor. The lack of extras or improvements on a technical level is somewhat disappointing. It's a nice attempt to bring back Felix The Cat, but it's not the tribute he deserves.”

Launch Window“Felix The Cat is an ideal collection that reflects the past and the power of Nintendo and its 8-bit games. However, it is limited and would deserve greater attention in the delivery of its content, adding even more pleasant memories for fans of retro platformers.”

Launch Window“Felix the Cat makes a modest return with a retro collection that includes three nearly identical versions of the same 1992 platformer. While the game itself is charming and nostalgic, the lack of meaningful extras and a steep price tag make this re-release feel more like a missed opportunity than a celebration.”

Launch Window“But with zero historical context, bonus features of any kind or even button mapping, this is a singular, fun NES platformer thrown in the most barebones wrapper imaginable, and pales in comparison to all of Konami’s other retro compilations.”

Launch Window“While it's a fine little nostalgia trip, unlike the titular character, the Felix the Cat collection is a bag lacking a lot of tricks.”

Launch Window“NES enthusiasts, parents looking for an approachable retro game for their kids, and anyone with nostalgic sentiments toward Felix the Cat will find something to enjoy here – all the better if it's on sale. This relatively sparse package boasts little else than two versions of the same hour-long, three-decade-old game, making it hard to justify at its full price point.”

Launch Window“I was really impressed with how good Felix the Cat on NES is, and it’s now one of my favorite hidden gems on that system. It’s still a lot of money being asked for one excellent ROM, its Japanese counterpart, and a Game Boy port that’s basically a novelty item. I’d say that, if you have some cashback credits in your eShop account, Felix the Cat is really fun and worth your time. If not, maybe wait for a discount.”

Launch Window“Felix the Cat remains one of my favourite gems from the NES library and I'm very happy that they brought it back for modern gamers to enjoy. Here's hoping we get a Baby Felix compilation next with those cute tennis and Halloween games. 😸”

Early Review“The addition of the Famicom version yields very little in terms of noticeable gameplay differences, so its inclusion is a bit of a mystery. I know the answer, but why couldn't these two games have just been added to NSO instead? What's more, the overall challenge will be markedly light for anyone with platforming experience, and there's no shortage of extra lives to earn and power-ups to keep you from danger and propel you through the largely pedestrian level design. If this 2024 collection had a few more interesting extras thrown in, it may be worth a pick up, but as it stands, this is just another black cat you don't want crossing your path.”
