Late Review“Hirogami is a beautifully crafted 3D platformer that offers a fun experience with the new update. Although its story and camera work occasionally crease the fun, its papercraft world, transformations, papercraft world, and satisfying mechanics make it worth unfolding. It’s not a perfect masterpiece, but it definitely takes shape in all the right places.”

Late Review“Hirogami blends origami artistry with platforming creativity, offering a relaxing and visually stunning adventure filled with clever transformations. Its gorgeous presentation, great sound design, and beginner-friendly gameplay make it easy to love, even if uneven difficulty and repetitive music hold it back from greatness.”

Launch Window“Hirogami doesn’t reinvent platformers, but embraces the genre with elegance and consistency. Its origami-inspired visuals and transformation mechanics add charm and rhythm to the adventure. Despite some design and narrative limitations, it offers a relaxing, artistic experience. Not a masterpiece, but a small gem worth discovering.”

Launch Window“In short, Hirogami is a 3D platformer that stands out for its creative visual design and original concept of transforming origami into a gameplay mechanic. The artistic identity is strong, but stumbles on crucial points: an unengaging narrative, uncharismatic characters, and a camera that compromises the experience at various points. Even so, the level design and the variety of forms Hiro can assume keep the game functional and engaging throughout much of the campaign. Like origami, Hirogami is impressive from afar for its aesthetics, but when handled, it reveals structural weaknesses.”

Launch Window“With its gorgeous visual style and some fun origami transformations, Hirogami has some high points to enjoy, but it sadly does have a few too many paper cuts that become consistent frustrations. It's not overly challenging, but lowering the difficulty does lend itself to a kind of relaxing, almost meditative experience at times, at least when the camera and other quirks aren't getting in the way.”

Launch Window“Hirogami is a game of fleeting brilliance, where moments of joy like leaping as a frog through a papery forest or uncovering a hidden shrine are undercut by clunky mechanics and unpolished edges. It’s a heartfelt effort from a small team, and the art direction alone makes it worth a glance. Like a sloppily-folded origami crane, though, it collapses, caught between ambition and execution.”

Early Review“Hirogami has a bright world to explore and some interesting gameplay ideas to fold over. However, the art of it all is a little lost when the developers' over ambition doesn't come to fruition in the game. It plays old, feels like it too, and despite being a throwback to the PS2 era, it doesn't have the tact and precision to pull off this nostalgia trip.”

Early Review“With a striking papercraft style, Hirogami instantly wins you over with its beautiful art. This platformer uses origami to provide you with a wealth of skills and abilities, but sometimes switching between them can prove to be a little frustrating. Still, if you're a platforming fan and you have a bit of patience, there's a lot to like here.”

Early Review“Hirogami is a game that enchants with its concept and art direction, but on the other hand, it struggles with the execution of some of its key mechanics. Hiro's transformations are detailed and work very well, encouraging exploration. However, its weak story and truncated, slow-flowing combat leave something to be desired. Still, despite being an average title, it can please fans of the genre.”

Early Review“Unfortunately, the platforming eventually starts to feel frustrating due to bad checkpointing, questionable hitboxes, and ultimate lack of variety. Combat is frequent, repetitive, and ended up feeling like a chore. There's heart and charm here, and I think a sequel could eventually turn this into a viable franchise. As it stands, however, Hirogami isn't a must-play.”

Early Review“Hirogami is a fine example of an underused aesthetic, and its beautifully styled origami world looks great on PS5. The platforming is a bit messy and there isn't much variety on offer, but for those who prefer a bit more style than substance, it's well worth a look.”

Early Review“Hirogami is a fantastic little platformer with surprising depth. Its origami world, from every folded tree and piece of wildlife, is a joy to behold, brought further to life with a vibrant soundscape inspired by traditional Japanese instruments. While the combat could perhaps have been a bit more enjoyable, Hirogami's narrative, layered with subtext about the place of traditional art forms in the modern era and overall fun platforming kept me engaged for its 8-ish hour playtime. If you're seeking a platforming adventure with a remarkable artistic vision, Hirogami is a great time and an adventure worth unfolding.”
