Late Review

Overall, if you have played the Disgaea games before, 7 won’t bring much new to the table. Its zany over-the-top characters are colorful, and fun. Spending hours leveling up characters and items can be a bit of a chore, but it’s also a part of its charm. If you have played Disgaea before, you will find a lot of comfort in this game, and if you have not, this is still a good entry to get started on.

Launch Window

Disgaea 7 on the Switch One was a little bit disappointing, but the Switch 2 upgrade brings back all the memories that made it the perfect RPG. The Jumbification system and associated giant-sized tactics add fresh flavor. Turn-based tactics with many character classes, deep post-game, and min-maxing systems. The main story is long, the post-game is huge, ideal for those who like to grind and dive deep. For newcomers to the series, this can be overwhelming or off-putting. Because of the deep mechanics and post-game, a lot of time is spent doing repetitive battles.

Launch Window

Disgaea 7 Complete provides a fun, if mixed experience for those wanting to check it out. The gameplay is fun enough, but some of the levels provide almost too much challenge, particularly for those unfamiliar with the tactical RPG genre. It'll be fun for some, but probably shouldn't be taken on by a beginner to the genre.

Launch Window

Disgaea 7 Complete is the definitive, feature-packed edition of the tactical RPG, running exceptionally well at 60 FPS on the Nintendo Switch 2 with surprising graphical options. The sheer volume of version-exclusive DLC and quality-of-life additions is undeniable, though the practice of locking content and the high launch price may give both newcomers and veteran players pause.

Early Review

Disgaea 7 Complete clearly is the ultimate version of Vows of the Virtueless. The story is as quirky and fun as ever, and the bonus content is an absolute must for die-hard fans. Being able to play it on the Switch 2 on the go is also great, with the game looking and feeling fantastic in both handheld and docked mode. The only knock is the uphill struggle for newcomers with reams of tiresome tutorials – hopefully NIS will have figured out by the time Disgaea 8 rolls around.

Disgaea 7 Complete is probably the best Disgaea game yet, and on the Nintendo Switch 2 it looks beautiful and runs smoother than ever.

Early Review

Disgaea 7 Complete is a game with an approach I wasn't expecting, bringing more than just DLC and bonus content. At first, I thought it was just an upgrade for the Nintendo Switch 2, but there's a lot that changes the game dramatically. However, that said, if you've already purchased Disgaea 7 on any platform, I don't think it's worth the asking price.

Early Review

With how stellar a package the Vows of the Virtueless proved to be upon release, the expanded and feature-packed Disgaea 7 Complete should be a slam dunk of a recommendation to any tactical RPG fan - but re-releases are rarely that simple. For anyone who missed out on the original the first time around, this version is every bit as great and stands tall as the ultimate, feature-complete iteration of the game.At the same time, there's no denying that the handful of brand-new content additions fall on the niche side and mostly serve those who want to live and breathe Disgaea 7 for their next hundred-plus hours of game time. Even stalwart fans who loved the base game may want to think twice before dropping the price of admission on this updated version and starting from scratch for a couple of post-game goodies.

Disgaea 7 Complete is the best way to play Disgaea 7. It includes all the DLC from the original base game and more. It may not add much to the core of Disgaea 7 but it really doesn't need to.

Early Review

Disgaea 7 Complete is a jam-packed version of Disgaea 7 with all previously released DLC, new story content, new features, and gameplay tweaks that make it the definitive edition of the strategy RPG. Although Disgaea 7 Complete doesn't revamp the game in a major way, it offers a lot of fun and engaging content with a easy pick-up-and-play combat system that will make the hours fly by before you know it. There are dozens of hours to be spent in Disgaea 7 Complete, all of which look crisp and optimized for Nintendo Switch 2.

Early Review

Disgaea 7 Complete is a pretty good package for the $69.99 price tag. The base game is great and like I said in my previous review, this was a return to form for this franchise. The DLC adds quite a bit to the game if you’re a fan of the Disgaea franchise, or if you just want a bunch of special characters to fill out your party with. I think this is a must for Nintendo Switch 2 owners that haven’t already invested in the previous release. You’ll find a great strategy game here that runs very well on your hardware.
