Launch Window

Visions of Four Heroes successfully expands Dynasty Warriors: Origins without compromising the game's solid foundation. The exploration of alternative narratives serves as an interesting complement to the main campaign, offering new perspectives on classic characters and reinforcing the expansion's narrative appeal. The gameplay additions, especially the new weapons and the unique skill tree, help refresh the experience and provide good reasons to revisit the battlefields.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins - Visions of Four Heroes galvanises the rebirth of a fan favourite franchise that had started to show signs of fatigue. The expansion helps to further expand the story through additional character perspectives while supercharging the hack n' slash gameplay with new features. However, with the DLC costing almost as much as the core game on some platforms, it's a tough sell, only suitable for those die-hard DW heads who simply can't wait for a sequel.

As someone extremely sceptic about an expansion for “Dynasty Warriors: Origins” due to the way it is structured, “Visions of Four Heroes” won me over with its narrative and an excellent amount of challenge — something that the game base lacked. I just it came alongside a “New Game+” option.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins – Visions of Four Heroes feels like a somewhat half-hearted DLC when compared to the excellent main game. Each individual story is interesting, and the newly added content doesn’t look bad at first glance, but the price is far too high for the amount of content on offer, and the game’s balance has become oddly skewed. Even so, because the base game itself is so strong, the experience remains enjoyable to play.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins Visions of Four Heroes is a great DLC that is worth its asking price, offering engaging, enhanced, and expanded combat. The narrative alone makes the DLC worth it.

Visions of Four Heroes is a perfect example of how DLC should be done. It expands the narrative with deep stories, new modes, and weapons that enhance the gameplay without altering its core essence. Every battle, character, and decision feels meaningful, elevating the base game to another level.

Comprehensive, the expansion brings even more stories worth exploring in this world. It would have been interesting to see this choice system in the base game, but everything was integrated in a very dynamic way within the format presented.

Early Review

Dynasty Warriors has always focused on Shu, Wu, Wei, and Jin, but the "Other" factions have always been my favorite. For two decades, I have waited for the chance to join the campaign alongside Zhang Jiao, Dong Zhuo, Yuan Shao, and Lu Bu. Visions of Four Heroes finally gives these characters their own stories, and the "what if" scenarios actually deliver. Omega Force also threw in three new companions, the Bow and Rope Dart as new weapons, and a Training Ground mode that should have been in the base game from the start. At $34.99, this is worth it. If you already love Origins, just buy it.

Early Review

Dynasty Warriors: Origins – Visions of Four Heroes delivers a surprisingly rich and emotional expansion that reimagines iconic characters through alternate-history storylines. With four robust campaign routes, new weapons, and meaningful combat refinements, this DLC rewards long-time fans while giving returning players plenty of fresh content to explore. Although some design choices feel disconnected from the base game's systems, the narrative depth and gameplay enhancements make this a standout Musou experience for 2026.

Early Review

Dynasty Warriors: Origins Visions of Four Heroes is a surprisingly well-done DLC pack that not only succeeds on a narrative level but also enhances its core gameplay. The additional routes exploring the would-be heroes are well-executed, if not a little short, and the new weapons and gameplay modes add even more enjoyment to the already addictive Musou combat.
