Late Review

Mindcop is an incredibly entertaining whodunit that expertly blends level headed crime solving with laugh-out-loud foolishness in a way that just shouldn’t work – but it does. Questioning the folk of the Merrylin Crater Camp and scouring for evidence is delightfully simple, and the pivotal time mechanic creates an incredible sense of urgency that’s often lacking in crime games. It’s a game that takes itself just seriously enough, as showcased by its combination of derpy cartoon-noir visuals and saxophone laden soundtrack with its cast of well rounded characters and layered storyline. Fun from start to finish, Mindcop is dripping with tongue-in-cheek playfulness that you won’t need a forensic team to uncover.

Mindcop is an innovative detective experience with a killer style and well thought-out mystery. It blends non-linear gameplay with real-time puzzles and detective game aspects that fit pretty well together. This is due in part to time being at the forefront of every little action you make, from checking what's in a bin to uncovering someone's secrets, every minute counts which creates a tantalizing mystery to sink your teeth into. The game is gorgeous and quirky in its unique style and boasts a cast of fun yet troubled characters. However, Mindcop stumbles in how overwhelming it can be at times, penalising your mistakes and lacking just enough direction so you're often running around like a headless chicken.

I can’t recommend this game enough. I’m a sucker for good storytelling and mystery-solving. Though a bit short, Mindcop tells a captivating story with interesting characters and unique gameplay mechanics. If you’re the type of person who likes narrative video games and detective work, you will absolutely love Mindcop and its perfectly executed cartoonish noir aesthetic.

Surreal, irreverent but also deeply dark and dreamlike. A deep and multifaceted story, one of the best investigation experiences, a cross between a recent Cartoon Network product and True Detective, with a few sprinkles of Twin Peaks-style lysergic acid dissociation This game has three flaws: the risk of having to lose a run for not having put together clues and dialogues in the right way (and it's not easy) and the mechanic of moving time forward, and by the third/fourth run, once you have seen everything and spoken/mindsurfed with everyone, the game becomes quite repetitive.

Mindcop is one of those rare detective games that doesn’t just ask you to follow a trail of clues but challenges you to interpret and question everything you uncover. With its mix of real-time investigation, mind-dive puzzles, and a time-limited mechanic, it manages to stand out as a truly unique experience. The game’s psychological and surreal elements create a mystery that feels deeply personal, forcing you to confront the complexity and ambiguity of human memories.

Mindcop is an entertaining noir detective game that is a welcome addition to a coveted genre of other great titles. Its three-dimensional characters have enough dilemmas and conflicts to make you stray off the case and dig into their own backstories. The writing has a profound balance between melancholy and humor that it will occasionally sprinkle in some wholesome beats. Despite the time management mechanic being somewhat harsh on your actions, Mindsurf and Sea of Thoughts are two gameplay components that make the experience understandable and easy to manage for casual players. Regardless of its few flaws, those are far outweighed by the creative gameplay, unique art style, and strong writing, which tie everything together wonderfully.

Mindcop is a game that knows how to entertain and brings the player into the climax of investigative activity. Despite being a minute title both in duration and content, the story is interesting and the gameplay simple but satisfying. It is a pity that the only mini-game is a little listless, which can however be deactivated if necessary. On the other hand, the game is well cared for in terms of graphic style, animations and atmosphere.

Mindcop won’t set any trends or shock players with its premise. The story is well-executed enough to see through to the end and entertains until the truth is revealed and beyond. The art style does not stick to landing, but anyone looking for a Northern Pacific mystery with a magical twist will find a lot to enjoy.

Early Review

Mindcop excels in creating an intriguing and well-orchestrated world, featuring a well-drawn pair of main characters. The gameplay foundations are solid, with the mindsurfing concept adding a unique twist. However, the progression, despite not being linear, has fixed points that overly simplify case resolution. It's a well-made title, offered at a very affordable price. If you love detective games, it's worth a try.
