Launch Window“Project Motor Racing game feels rushed, with a 'fix it later' approach - pro racers or amateurs looking to stay sharp might find value, but casual fans could struggle.”

Launch Window“Project Motor Racing isn’t broken, but it is frustrating. It’s the kind of game that constantly reminds you of what it’s trying to be, rather than letting you forget and simply race. There are sparks of potential here, but they’re buried beneath awkward pacing, inconsistent handling, and a lack of player-centric design.”

Launch Window“Project Motor Racing is a game with enormous potential, but in its current state, it still has room for improvement. There are moments when everything clicks, when you're driving the right car on the right track, the AI is cooperating, and you've gotten used to the twitchy controls. In these rare moments, Project Motor Racing reveals its potential. For fans of console racing simulations looking for a comprehensive career mode and an interesting selection of vehicles, it's worth keeping an eye on the game and waiting for further updates. Mod support, in particular, could become a unique selling point in the long run. I'm confident, however, that the announced patches will further refine the gameplay experience.”

Launch Window“Project Motor Racing is a baffling experience: despite rising from the ashes of Project CARS, one of the most beloved racing games in history, this project managed to make everyone unhappy. From a fundamentally flawed physics simulation on both controller and wheel to some ridiculously blinded AI opponents, Project Motor Racing is faulty in the very foundations of what a racing game should be. The quick response from the dev team, with a couple of damage-control patches, is appreciated, but the state in which the game was launched cannot be forgiven.”

Launch Window“Project Motor Racing failed to deliver a competent and realistic racing experience. While it has qualities such as its selection of cars and tracks, as well as customization options, several things fell short. These include an uninteresting visual style and problems with gameplay and customization. In the end, the game is still a minimally interesting option for fans of the genre, but nothing more than that.”

Launch Window“The game has the ambition to combine a range of cars, different categories, licensed tracks, career, multiplayer, equipment and sounds into one package, but at least for now everything is unfinished and needs to be finalized.”

Launch Window“Project Motor Racing feels like an early access game that hasn’t actually been identified as such, and is simply not a better racer than its 2017 ancestor Project CARS 2.”

Launch Window“Disappointment is an understatement when it comes to Project Motor Racing. Vehicle control, sub-par graphics, and cost all contribute to the calamity that is PMR.”

Launch Window“There are two key point to keep in mind when describing this title. First, it's a true simulator on consoles and essentially Gran Turismo's opposite. Project Motor Racing focuses on substance, placing realism above visuals - unlike Polyphony Digital's series. The second point concerns its potential: considering how much Farming Simulator has grown over the years, this new title is likely to receive strong long term support. It starts from an excellent foundation, even if it still has some notable limitations.”

Launch Window“Unfortunately, Project Motor Racing doesn't deliver the expected quality and can't truly compete with Gran Turismo 7, Assetto Corsa, or other simulators on the market. While it doesn't play badly, some of its features are beyond my comprehension. The AI, which runs like it's on rails, is the biggest drawback, but it also lacks more content, a more extensive career, or better graphics on consoles. Although there are no frame drops, we feel a certain dissatisfaction. It's clear the developers still need many updates to get it all right.”

Launch Window“I am genuinely bummed about the state Project Motor Racing is landing in. Where the core gameplay, i.e. the driving itself and a sizeable collection of iconic cars, is well crafted, the clunky AI and damage model, along with really poor optimisation, get in the way of enjoying the game as much as possible.”

Launch Window“What was an opportunity to standout in an ever-growing field of sim racing competitors has sadly fallen by the wayside. There’s still a chance for Project Motor Racing to shine though, and success will hinge on just how good the online multiplayer ends up being.”

Launch Window“Even at 60FPS, Project Motor Racing boasts some stunning visuals and a keen attention to detail you don’t see in every sim racing title. Cars visibly kick up debris and rubber from the track, which is a lovely touch, particularly in the cockpit view. On that note, birds take to the skies as you drive by, and it was especially noticeable racing around the infamous Green Hell. That attention to detail extends to the car models as well, and many of the vehicles sport a selection of liveries. I thought the visuals during my afternoon race at Monza looked a little washed out, but I discovered far more dramatic lighting when I set races for different times of day. Driving at sunset is breathtaking, and Straight4 Studios has crammed Project Motor Racing with plenty of stylish flourishes, like exhaust flames.”
