Castle of Heart Retold is certainly a step up compared to the original Nintendo Switch release from 2018, fixing some of the knight's clunkiness and greatly improving the visuals. Unfortunately, it is not enough to make this fast-paced action-platformer shine on a much, much larger library compared to its original release.

The work itself stands as an exceptional endeavor in its purest sense: being rare, anomalous, and manifestly free from compromise in the pursuit of its original vision. For such audacity, it warrants my complete and unconditional respect. Yet, some shortcomings—or, worse, a blatant lack of care in specific aspects of the world building presentation, coupled with an overall simplistic message—make the journey itself more fascinating than the legacy it leaves behind. And frankly, considering the immense potential, this constitutes a fatal flaw that I simply cannot forgive.

Thief VR delivers a faithful stealth experience in virtual reality, staying true to the series core mechanics while introducing a new protagonist. Although the gameplay offers multiple approaches and effective stealth design, the combat system feels shallow and repetitive. The narrative includes interesting references to the franchise’s past, but its short length limits emotional impact. Visually and technically, the game shows clear limitations, with unpolished character models and a weak audio presentation. Overall, it’s a competent but unambitious entry that keeps the series alive without fully revitalizing it.

The latest project from Berangin Creative is a journey worth undertaking for anyone who prioritizes the contemplation of visual art over systemic complexity, yet it demands a certain degree of indulgence regarding its sometimes timid narration and stumbling technical refinement. It is a title that warms the heart with its palette but fails to deeply etch itself into the soul, hindered by an excessively linear nature and a ludic structure that struggles to evolve. For these reasons, while remaining an experience endowed with praiseworthy directorial dignity, Kejora stops just short of the threshold of excellence.

Wreckreation is an ambitious but uneven attempt to revive the spirit of classic arcade racing. While it occasionally delivers thrilling moments of speed and destruction, its unforgiving learning curve, inconsistent handling, and heavy reliance on grind undermine the overall experience. The creative tools and sandbox structure show genuine potential, but the lack of a compelling progression system and meaningful incentives makes it hard to stay engaged for long. In the end, Wreckreation feels more like a promising foundation than a fully realized racing game.

Sacred 2 Remaster is an odd one. When the original was released in 2008 it felt like a huge wasted opportunity, a game with an enourmous amount of content marred by just as many bugs and technical problems, and yet I ended up falling in love with its endless exploration and janky combat. Seventeen years later, this remaster should have been the perfect occasion to fix as many technical flaws as possible while mantaining what already worked. It manages to do so, but to a far lesser extent than expected, and the addition of new problems makes it hard to justify the purchase for reasons other than nostalgia or curiosity.

A Game About Digging A Hole is an honest title that doesn't try to be something it’s not (with the exception of that rather questionable stealth section at the end). While technically solid—thanks to the Unreal Engine—the progression feels a bit too linear and uninspired.

We have seen many products featuring animals recently, such as the recent announcement of The Free Shepherd at The Game Awards 2025. My Little Puppy manages to capture the essence of dogs as life companions. The care taken in the representation of behaviors, combined with an emotionally engaging story, makes it a must-have title for those who love these animals. Just as Stray has become the benchmark for games featuring cats, My Little Puppy has all the makings of a game that represents the world of dogs. For those who have lived with a dog—or continue to do so—this game is not just an adventure, but a little journey to that “paradise” Mark Twain spoke of. Because My Little Puppy is not just a game that tells the story of a dog. It is a work that, consciously or not, questions the way humans relate to their animals, and more generally the way they conceive of love, responsibility, and loss. Certain bonds do not need words to be eternal.

Romancing SaGa Minstrel Song Remastered International is a meticulously preserved artifact of JRPG history, now more accessible than ever thanks to the international localization. Its appeal lies in its unparalleled non-linearity, offering eight unique paths and a truly personal narrative journey driven by exploration and curiosity. The modern quality-of-life enhancements mitigate the grind of the original. However, its uncompromising design, high initial difficulty, and deliberate lack of guidance mean this classic remains a challenging experience. It's not a game for those seeking linear progression, but for players willing to embrace its chaotic freedom, it delivers a profound and endlessly replayable epic.

Man in Black Most Wanted is a fun VR game with a solid writing for Man in Black fans, unfortunately it is rough around the edges and can be unresponsive, but it's overall a good experience, especially for a Quest 3 native game.

There are two key point to keep in mind when describing this title. First, it's a true simulator on consoles and essentially Gran Turismo's opposite. Project Motor Racing focuses on substance, placing realism above visuals - unlike Polyphony Digital's series. The second point concerns its potential: considering how much Farming Simulator has grown over the years, this new title is likely to receive strong long term support. It starts from an excellent foundation, even if it still has some notable limitations.

Syberia, even in its Remastered version, remains one of the cornerstones of the point-and-click genre. With its renewed environments, a few small adjustments to the puzzles, and an improved visual presentation, it stands as the best way to relive this adventure — or experience it for the first time. All of this, of course, provided you can accept a few technical compromises.

As Long as You’re Here is a quiet, intimate experience that speaks through absence rather than spectacle. By placing the player in the role of the one who remembers, it transforms Alzheimer’s into something lived, not explained. Its strength lies in restraint: simple actions, careful silences, and a story that trusts you to feel rather than react. In just one hour, it creates a bond that lingers far longer than the playtime suggests. This is not a game about winning or overcoming, but about staying present. And in doing so, it proves how powerful videogames can be when they choose empathy over excess.

In summary, Double Dragon Revive positions itself as one of the strongest candidates for the worst recent installment in the series. While it avoids the absolute depths plumbed by Rosetta Stone and Double Dragon IV, it clearly falls short of the modern standards set by Neon and Gaiden. The game delivers the essential elements of the beat 'em up genre: iconic characters, environmental interactivity, and an arcade rhythm in co-op—making it merely acceptable for those seeking a quick, nostalgic gaming escape, particularly when shared. Barely scraping by with a passing grade, it is suitable solely for the incurable nostalgics. It can only observe with melancholy distance the titles that surpass it in every aspect, even with the presence of the famous Lee brothers and co., such as River City Girls 2 and its dedicated downloadable content, without even daring to disturb the recently released video game miracle that answers to the name of Absolum.

The Lonesome Guild is not just an action RPG wrapped in bright colors and charming characters, but an emotional journey centered on solitude and connection. Through Ghost and the companions you meet, the game explores how isolation shapes identities and how relationships can slowly heal invisible wounds. Its combat and progression systems reinforce this theme, turning bonds into real, tangible strength. Despite some technical flaws and a modest challenge, the heart of the experience remains powerful and sincere. Tiny Bull Studios delivers a story that lingers, inviting the player to reflect on loneliness not as an end, but as a beginning. When the credits roll, what stays with you is not the silence, but the connections you chose to build.

Wander Stars is a little surprise. I really liked the idea of "do-it-yourself" moves, as well as the desire to draw inspiration from classic '90s shonen games for the graphics. Sure, the story is intentionally more linear and action-oriented than deep exploration, and the lack of voice acting can be felt. The true heart of the experience remains the innovative, turn-based, word-based combat system. The mechanic of combining words to build and launch custom attacks is a brilliant idea. Likewise, the fact that you gain honor by not knocking out your opponent fits well with the universe and philosophy behind Wander Stars.

Nicktoons and The Dice of Destiny successfully delivers a charming, visually appealing action-RPG for the franchise's dedicated fans and younger audiences. While its simplistic gameplay and repetitive quest structure might leave seasoned RPG players wanting more, the sheer fun of seeing your favorite Nickelodeon heroes in their fantasy roles makes this a worthwhile, nostalgic adventure, especially in local co-op.

The Donkey Kong Bananza DLC is a visually charming but ultimately shallow expansion. While it introduces a fun roguelike-style emerald hunt and a beautiful new island, it lacks new narrative elements or significant gameplay additions. At €19.99, it feels overpriced for the limited content, making it a missed opportunity and a difficult purchase to recommend for anyone other than completionists.
